What this committee does

The canteen is the program's snack bar at home games for Freshman, JV, and Varsity. It is the committee's core operation and the most direct fundraising the program does: money in the register is money for the program.

Beyond the snack bar, the committee handles food and drink everywhere else it comes up: team meals on away-game days, food at summer camp, and refreshments at program events. That work used to land on whoever would absorb it. Now it has an owner.

What it delivers

  • The canteen open and staffed at every home game
  • Inventory and sales numbers visible to the board and to parents, not held by one person
  • Team meals that arrive before the bus leaves

Ways to help

There is more than one size of yes here. Pick the one that fits the time you have.

Game-day shift

Work the window for a game: take orders, run the register, restock. No experience needed and training is quick.

One game, whenever it fits
Inventory and buying

Help keep track of stock and what needs reordering. Good fit if you are organized and would rather work off the clock than during it.

A few hours a month
Menu and signage

Design the menu boards and game-day specials. A good fit for anyone comfortable in Canva or similar.

Occasional, ahead of the season
Event and team-meal runs

Pick up and deliver food for an away-game team meal or a program event.

One-off, a few times a year

The full list of responsibilities

  • Running the snack bar at home games across all three levels
  • Inventory: what is bought, sold, donated, and given away
  • Tracking what sells and when, so buying is informed rather than guesswork
  • Opening, closing, counting money, and handing off proceeds in a documented way
  • Training canteen volunteers on operations and money handling
  • Menu and pricing, including trying new items and retiring ones that do not move
  • Signage, menu boards, and making the canteen easy to read from the line
  • Team meals on away-game days, coordinated with the coach so the food meets the bus
  • Food coordination at summer camp and refreshments at program events

When the work happens: Every home game through the season, plus events through the year
