The night the whole program celebrates the season together.
The banquet is the program's largest event, around 200 to 220 people, and the night every player is recognized and the seniors are sent off.
The committee owns it end to end: venue, date, food, tickets, the agenda, the speakers, the AV, and the room itself. It is run to break even, not as a fundraiser.
Venue and date get locked early on purpose. When those are set, joining the committee means filling in details rather than starting from a blank page.

Work on venue, menu, agenda, and invitations in the months beforehand. If you have planned an event of any kind, you already know how to do this.
Arrive early, set the room, run registration, and help tear down at the end. No prior involvement needed.
Track who is coming and handle ticket sales. A good fit if you like a tidy spreadsheet.
