Directions from Valencia High School

26.5 miles , about 32 minutes.

Drive time: measured for a Saturday morning arrival, traffic-aware.

Route: Navigate to Hartunian Field, 17271 W Oxnard St, Encino, CA 91316. Two things to get right. It is NOT the Crespi campus on Alonzo Avenue, which is a different place a mile away, and the zip code matters: Oxnard Street runs for miles across the Valley, so searching the street name alone can offer you more than one result. Take the one in 91316. The complex itself is Encino Franklin Fields, and that is the name on the sign at the street. Crespi's field inside it is Hartunian Field; the one beside it is O'Malley Family Field, which belongs to Harvard-Westlake. Either name means you are in the right place. From Valencia the approach is the 405. Staying on the 5 takes you the wrong way; the recovery is the 118 west to the 405 south.

Parking

The entrance is at the right, at the end of the roundabout where the flagpole is, and there is a little parking over in that area. Otherwise park in the dirt lot, or just outside the other fields toward the Harvard-Westlake side. It is a short walk from either of those lots to the main entrance.

Seating & Chairs

A mix of the two. There is a small stadium-seating area of about five rows, and you can also bring your own chair and sit back in the open area or right up against the fence.

What to bring: A chair, if you want the choice of where to sit. The bleacher rows are there if you would rather not carry one.

Shade & Sun

The seating area has a cover, and a couple of big trees give some shade as well. At 11:49 AM on Saturday, October 24 the sun was behind you on the first-base side.

Visibility

Fine, with one exception: from the open seating it is difficult to see right field, because the visitors' dugout on the first-base side blocks it.

Restrooms

Three portable restrooms, just to the right of where they are selling the food.

Concessions

A small snack bar. They set up a table and bring the stock out of a trailer. A lot of it is chips, crackers, candy and cookies. They may or may not have a grill going; on Saturday, October 24 they were cooking burgers at 11:45.

Cell Signal

Full bars and strong internet.

The Field

Traditional dirt and grass.

Dimensions: 330 down both lines and 390 to center.
