The freshmen played their first home game of the fall on Saturday morning on the JV Field and led from the first inning to the last.
Landon Page reached on an error, stole third, and scored on another error, and Logan Janes followed him home for a 2-0 lead. Chase Costella singled home Page in the third, and the fourth broke it open: Dominik Tapia walked, Augie Johnson and Alex Josing beat out bunt singles, Kellan Laroe walked in a run, Jackson Wertz drove in another, Josing scored on a balk, and Janes singled home Wertz for a 7-1 lead.
In the sixth, Josing doubled and scored on Aaron Brenner's double, and Janes singled home Brenner before Jude Soler scored on an error to make it 10-3. Moorpark scored three in the seventh on a passed ball and two wild pitches and one more in the ninth on a balk, but Lucas Luster threw a scoreless eighth and Eric Patterson closed it out in the ninth.
Costella struck out three in 1.1 scoreless innings, Augie Johnson struck out two, and Tapia threw out a runner trying to steal third. Janes reached base all four times with two singles, two hit-by-pitches, and two RBIs, and Josing finished 2-for-3 with a double and two runs.
