Ryan Nguyen turned in a two-way gem, going 2-for-2 with a triple and four RBI from the eight-hole and tossing 1.2 scoreless innings of relief, to lead Valencia past Sylmar 9-5 for a fourth straight win.

The Vikings jumped ahead in the second on Aiden Illingworth's single, JT Gurne's RBI double, and Nguyen's sacrifice fly. Sylmar surged in front with a three-run fourth, but Valencia answered immediately and for good.

In the bottom of the fourth, Brady Ruffner doubled and scored on an error, JT Gurne doubled again, and Nguyen ripped a two-run single to put the Vikings back ahead 5-3. Valencia tacked on two in the fifth, when Santino Cascione scored on a wild pitch and Caden Cabunoc came around, and two more in the sixth, capped by Nguyen's RBI triple that scored Gurne.

Gurne was right there with Nguyen, collecting two doubles, two RBI, and three runs scored on a 2-for-4 day. The Vikings banged out 11 hits up and down the order, with Illingworth adding a hit and two runs, Cascione and Cabunoc each scoring, and Ruffner doubling and scoring, and they made Sylmar's four errors count.

Andrew Gomez set the tone with three scoreless innings and four strikeouts to start. Jaedyn Morales earned the win in relief, and Nguyen finished his huge day on both sides of the ball by slamming the door with 1.2 hitless innings and three strikeouts.

The win pushed Valencia's streak to four straight and capped a strong opening stretch to the summer slate.
