Evan Conrad had a day to remember, doubling twice and driving in six runs to power Valencia to a 12-2 rout of Granada Hills and a second straight win.
The Vikings never trailed and scored in five different innings. Conrad opened the books with a two-run double in the first, after Brady Ruffner doubled and Aiden Illingworth was hit by a pitch, and the lead only grew from there.
Valencia added three in the third, loading the bases before Conrad's fielder's choice plated two and Santino Cascione singled home another. The knockout came in a five-run fifth: JT Gurne scored on a balk, Conrad cleared the bases again with a three-run double, Casey Nickson singled in a run, and Braden Cianci doubled home another.
The lineup pounded out 14 hits and barely let up. Ryan Nguyen and Caden Cabunoc each went 2-for-3, with Cabunoc and Nickson driving in runs and Nguyen doubling and scoring. Leadoff man Brady Ruffner was a one-man rally, reaching base three times on a double, a walk, and a hit-by-pitch, stealing a bag, and scoring three runs. Kasen Caranto added a double and two runs off the bench, and Braden Cianci, Hayden Jaquez, and Gavin Tergo all collected hits as the order turned over again and again.
The staff was every bit as sharp. Charles Goodman struck out two over two scoreless innings to start, Braden Cianci followed with two more scoreless frames to go with his RBI double, and Brody Kersting and JT Gurne handled the back end, Gurne fanning two in the seventh. Granada Hills managed just five hits and pushed across its only runs on a pair of sacrifice flies.
Behind the 14-hit attack and four arms that combined to allow two runs, Valencia again played errorless defense, a complete, all-phases win that ran the Vikings' winning streak to two.
