Valencia turned a scoreless early game into a 10-0 Foothill League rout at Canyon, backed by two Justin Gaisford home runs, a perfect day from Cole DeYoung, and a combined one-hit shutout.

After two quiet innings the Vikings broke through for three in the third on Tyler Wertz's two-run double and a bases-loaded walk, then piled on four in the fourth, capped by Gaisford's three-run homer. Gaisford added a two-run shot in the sixth and finished with five RBI.

DeYoung was a one-man hit parade, 4-for-4 with three runs scored from the leadoff spot. Wertz doubled and drove in two, and Brady Ruffner doubled and scored twice. Valencia drew nine walks and made Canyon pay for every miscue.

Dexton Otton was overpowering, five scoreless innings with five strikeouts and a lone hit allowed, and Brett Cormany finished with three strikeouts over two perfect innings. Canyon managed just a single hit all afternoon.
