Two days after dropping a one-run game to West Ranch, Valencia returned the favor in style, riding a complete-game three-hit shutout from Steven Genovese to a 6-0 win and a split of the back-to-back with its Foothill League rival.

Genovese was masterful, scattering three singles over seven innings, walking one and pitching to contact for an efficient 85-pitch complete game. He never let a West Ranch runner reach third base.

The offense broke a scoreless game open with a four-run fourth. Zach Davis doubled home two runs, Jack Yamamura's sacrifice bunt brought in another, and Santino Cascione singled in a fourth, with four West Ranch errors helping the rally along. Valencia tacked on single runs in the fifth on Evan Conrad's RBI single and in the sixth on Cascione's steal of home.

Davis drove in two, Conrad and Cascione each added a hit and an RBI, and the Vikings turned Wednesday's 4-2 loss into a clean measure of payback.
