Valencia carried a 2-1 lead into the seventh against Foothill League rival West Ranch, but a three-run inning, capped by a game-tying home run and two sacrifice flies, turned it into a 4-2 loss.

The Vikings scratched out a run in the second when Kyle Josing walked and came home on Kade Breech's groundout, then took a 2-1 lead in the sixth on Cole DeYoung's solo home run to left. Dexton Otton had given Valencia four scoreless innings to start, and Charlie Romanelli added two more in relief.

It unraveled in the seventh. Clayton, who doubled and homered on the day, led off with a home run to tie it, and after a single and a double, Wilson and Guiterez delivered back-to-back sacrifice flies to push West Ranch ahead 4-2. Valencia went down in order in the bottom of the seventh.

DeYoung homered and Tyler Wertz doubled, but the Vikings struck out 10 times and could not solve reliever Diaz, who closed with 1.1 hitless innings and three strikeouts. A tough one to lose with the lead late.
