The freshmen spotted Golden Valley four first-inning runs and then played one of the most audacious games of the spring, stealing home three times, swiping eight bags in all, and never striking out in a 13-9 home win.

Each steal of home came on a delayed double steal with the trail runner sacrificed: Elijah Patlian in the first, Marcus Paikos to cap a five-run second, and Nate Marroquin in the fourth. Between the thefts the bats kept coming, thirteen hits including three bunt singles, with Patlian and Marroquin collecting three hits apiece and Kasen Caranto adding three more with a double.

Matthew Webb earned the win in long relief after the rough start, allowing only two unearned runs from the first through the fourth, and Jackson Lord struck out three across two innings while going 2-for-2 with a two-run double at the plate. Golden Valley loaded the bases in a three-run seventh, but the game ended on a line drive to Caranto, who doubled the runner off second.

The two teams combined for ten errors, nine hit batters, and eighteen walks; Valencia's discipline showed in the strikeout column, where its hitters posted a zero.
