The second game of the freshmen's Saturday doubleheader with Hart became an instant keeper: Elijah Garcia and Nate Marroquin combined on an eight-inning no-hitter and shutout, and Valencia pushed across two unearned runs in the top of the eighth to win 2-0 and sweep the day.

It is the second combined no-hitter of the young season, and Garcia has been part of both. This one was a tightrope act: Hart put eleven runners on with seven walks and four hit-by-pitches, loading the bases with two outs in the fourth, but never managed a hit. Garcia struck out the side around two baserunners in the third, and Caden Shin and Jace Lindstrom erased a runner stealing in the fifth.

Hart's Dominik Scheetz nearly matched it, allowing one hit into the seventh, and the game reached the eighth scoreless. There, Patrick Sloyer walked, Elijah Patlian singled with one out, Kasen Caranto's sacrifice moved both runners up, and Elijah Avlas's hard grounder was misplayed at shortstop, scoring Shin, aboard on a hit-by-pitch, and Patlian.

Marroquin retired the side in the eighth, ending it on a groundout to third, with Caranto hauling in his sixth fly ball of the game in center along the way. Valencia's defense was perfect: twenty-four putouts, no errors, no hits allowed.
