A day after a tough trip to Sierra Canyon, Valencia bounced back in a big way, blanking Simi Valley 8-0 behind a two-hit shutout and a seven-run third inning.

It was scoreless into the third, and then the Vikings sent thirteen men to the plate. Evan Conrad and Justin Gaisford doubled, Tyler Wertz, Charlie Romanelli, and Dylan Lapa singled in runs, Francisco Velazquez and Wertz added sacrifice flies, and Simi Valley starter Jackson Plagenza hit three batters as the inning snowballed. Cole DeYoung, in off the bench, capped the scoring with a solo home run to left in the fourth.

On the mound it was a shutout by committee. Charlie Romanelli was terrific over five innings, allowing just two hits and no walks while throwing strikes all morning, to earn the win. Justin Gaisford, Brady Redin, and Tennysen Enneking finished it; Enneking came on with the bases loaded and nobody out in the seventh and slammed the door, stranding all three runners to preserve the shutout.

Romanelli helped his own cause with two RBI, Wertz drove in two, and Dylan Lapa went 2-for-3. The Vikings drew three hit-by-pitches and made the most of a Simi Valley error, scoring two unearned, and played errorless defense behind a staff that scattered just two hits.
