Valencia's JV broke open a scoreless game with five runs in the second and held on to beat Cleveland 8-4 at home, with the pitching staff striking out eight.

The big inning was all pressure: Tyler Lord singled, Alex Bramson ripped a two-run double, Casey Nickson followed with a two-run single, and Nickson came home on a passed ball for the 5-0 lead.

Cleveland answered without a hit in the third, drawing six walks including three straight with the bases loaded. Charles Goodman entered with two outs, ended the inning, and steadied the game: 3.1 innings, two hits, no earned runs, and four strikeouts.

Valencia added three insurance runs in the sixth on Alex Bramson's RBI bunt single and Bodie Johnson's two-run single, and Ben Winger closed the seventh around two harmless baserunners.
