Valencia's JV opened the spring season with a 6-4 road loss at Oaks Christian, a game of traffic without enough payoff: the Vikings drew nine walks and were hit three times but managed only three hits.

Valencia jumped ahead 2-0 in the first. Casey Nickson scored on Braden Cianci's sacrifice fly, and Luke Ammerman came home when Hayden Jaquez's grounder was misplayed.

Oaks Christian answered with a single run in the first and then broke through for four in the fourth, a Ryan Pacella RBI single, a bases-loaded walk, a sacrifice fly, and a run-scoring fielder's choice, to lead 5-2.

Nickson's two-run double in the fifth pulled Valencia within 5-4, but Oaks added an insurance run in the bottom half and a 1-2-3 sixth and seventh closed the door. Tee Intharachalit struck out two in a clean inning of relief, and Nickson reached base four times.
