Valencia's first trip to San Diego turned into a 26-run shootout, and the Vikings owned the middle of it, scoring eleven unanswered runs to beat Rancho Bernardo 15-11.

It started sideways. Staked to a 2-0 lead on Evan Conrad's two-run single, Valencia gave back three unearned-heavy runs in the first, two more in the second, and two in the third on a leadoff homer and a steal of home, trailing 7-4.

The fourth flipped it. Ryan Nguyen wore a pitch and scored on Brady Ruffner's single, JT Gurne singled home Kyle Josing, and Cole DeYoung lined a two-run single for the 8-7 lead. Tyler Wertz opened the fifth with a home run to right, his second in as many games, and Conrad, Nguyen, and Ruffner kept the line moving for a 12-7 cushion; three Rancho Bernardo errors and Wertz's double stretched it to 15-7 in the sixth.

Justin Gaisford earned the win with three middle innings that held the score while the comeback built, and Brett Cormany weathered a four-run seventh, striking out three, before freezing the last batter with the tying run nowhere in sight. Josing reached three times and drove in a run without recording an official at-bat, and Valencia's four hit-by-pitches all turned into baserunners the Broncos had to chase.
