Valencia finished its San Diego doubleheader day two-for-two, following the morning comeback at Rancho Bernardo with an 11-7 win over Mission Hills on the same field, and Tyler Wertz would not stop hitting home runs.

His first-inning fly ball to right, with Dylan Lapa aboard, made it three consecutive games with a homer, and he was not done: a two-run single in Valencia's six-run fourth and an RBI single in the sixth ran his day to 3-for-4 with five driven in, all without playing an inning in the field.

The fourth put the game away: a sacrifice fly by Cole DeYoung, singles from Rufio Simo and Jonathon Torres, Wertz's two-run knock, Justin Gaisford's sacrifice fly, and a two-run error stretched a 4-1 lead to 10-1. Valencia even scored a run in the second without a hit, when Simo walked and came home on back-to-back balks.

Steven Genovese set the tone with six strikeouts over three innings, and when Mission Hills rallied within 11-7 in the sixth, the defense answered: Ryan Nguyen and Francisco Velazquez Jr. relayed a 3-9-2 cut-down to Carter Bennett at the plate, Bennett's twelfth putout of a day in which he caught all eleven strikeouts, and Tee Intharachalit closed with a pickoff and a called third strike.
